Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is the founder of Facebook he was born on 14th May 1984. Mark is also an American businessman and philanthropist. He is also a co-founder and board member of Breakthrough Starshot, a solar sail spacecraft development project.
Mark Zuckerberg: Birth and Family
Mark Zuckerberg met Priscilla Chan at a party during his year at Harvard University. They began dating in 2003. In September 2010, Zuckerberg invited Priscilla Chan to live in his rented house.
On July 31, 2015, Zuckerberg announced that after three miscarriages, the couple was expecting a baby girl. On August 28, 2017, they announced the birth of their second daughter, August Chan Zuckerberg. The couple has a dog named Beast, who has over two million followers on Facebook.
Mark Zuckerberg: Education
Mark Zuckerberg go to Ardsley High School (1998–2000) and Phillips Exeter Academy (2000–2002), where he won many awards in mathematics, astronomy, physics, and classical studies. He was school captain there. Mark Zuckerberg attended Harvard University (2002–2004). He also stated in his application that he could read and write French, Hebrew, Latin, and Ancient Greek.
Mark Zuckerberg: Software Development and Facebook
In the 1990s, Mark Zuckerberg's father taught him basic programming and later hired a tutor, David Newman. Zuckerberg began his undergraduate studies at Mercy College. Zuckerberg's father ran a dental practice from home, so Zuckerberg created a software program, "ZuckNet," that allowed all the computers in the house to communicate with each other. ZuckNet was a version of AOL's Instant Messenger, which was launched that year. During his high school years, Zuckerberg worked for Intelligent Media Group and developed a music player, "Synapse Media Player." This application used machine learning to learn users' listening habits.
Mark Zuckerberg enrolled at Harvard, he had become a programming genius. At Harvard, Zuckerberg studied psychology and computer science. In his second year at Harvard, Zuckerberg created a program called CourseMatch, which allowed students to form study groups and make class selection decisions based on the preferences of other students. A few months later, Zuckerberg created another program, FaceMash, where students could select the best-looking person from a given photo.
The FaceMash website created by Zuckerberg took off, but Harvard University shut it down because its popularity caused a network switch to go down, preventing students from accessing the internet.
On February 4, 2004, Zuckerberg originally launched "The Facebook." Six days after the launch, senior Harvard students alleged that Zuckerberg used their ideas to create "The Facebook." Following Facebook's official launch, three senior students, Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra, filed a lawsuit against Zuckerberg and agreed to a settlement for 1.2 million Facebook shares.
Mark Zuckerberg: The Facebook Journey
On February 4, 2004, Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his Harvard room. Facebook was a Harvard student app until Zuckerberg expanded it to other colleges like Columbia University, New York University, Stanford, Dartmouth, Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown, and Yale.
Mark Zuckerberg and his friends rented a small house in Palo Alto, California, which served as their office. In mid-2004, they got their first office. In 2009, Mark Zuckerberg consulted with Peter Currie, former chief financial officer of Netscape, on financial strategies. On July 21, 2010, Facebook surpassed 500 million users.
